february 22nd, 2010 - oh my starling-  I am pleased to announce the completion of my 7th album, "oh my starling". Immediately following the release of the back to back albums "an ungentlemanly act at sea" and "con(sequence)" I began writing for a new record, more so i began writing to add to a set of songs that had been sparse and heavy in theme and were a hard set to bring to life. the albums were great for sitting at home and reflecting but in a live enviroment some things had to be changed and with the help of the band Sleepybird they did. the songs took on a new direction, they became almost rock songs, fun and with them supporting a string of shows i wanted to take advantage of the sound they added to them so i wrote a couple of new ones that highlighted the instrumentation of the band. before i knew it i had enough material for a new record before the official release on the other 2 records had even come to be. after the release i began recording, i tested the new material out live with Sleepybird in the fall of 2009 and it was working like magic. Writing with them in mind i just kept pushing myself more because i knew these guys could pull off whatever i brough there way. In December of 09 I had finished tracking and started the mixing process, by January I was finished. The results are just as i had imagined it to be, an album full of songs that didn't abandon the sound i am know for but developed it, evolved it so it seemed like a natural progression. An album full of dark, moody, lush and noisey arrangements and of course a melodica solo. Opening with a distorted synth and recording of a thunderstorm while the singer yells, begs, asks "are you ready" to a whispered voice asking  the listener again if they remembered the one who was almost theirs, the album takes you on a journey, are you ready, are you ready, are you ready!
